BSPP Female Swivel Adapter
BSPP Female Swivel Adapter are available as standard in Brass and 316 Stainless Steel. Pipe Fittings can also be supplied in other materials including Monel®, Hastelloy® C276, Inconel®, Incoloy®, Duplex, Super Duplex and Titanium, as well and in special shapes. While the standard materials are 316 stainless steel, brass and carbon steel, we can also manufacture these fittings in other materials to meet your company’s needs. The basic fitting capabilities show the fittings will stand up during prolonged exposure to temperatures as high as 800°F. Those ratings are dependent upon the design and whether the fitting is 316 stainless steel or brass. BSPP Female Swivel Adapter made of 316 stainless steel are heat code traceable for the benefit of your operation.
All exposed threads of BSPP Female Swivel Adapter protected with plastic caps to prevent damage and packed in sealed, clear plastic bag for cleanliness.
What are BSPP Threads ?
BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) is most popular in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is a parallel thread fitting that uses a bonded seal ring to do the sealing. This bonded ring seal is sandwiched in-between a shoulder on the male fitting and the face of the female fitting and is squeezed in place. BSPP pressure gauges have a longer male thread and use a copper crush washer that is squeezed in between the bottom of the male fitting and the bottom of the female BSPP hole forming a pressure tight seal. No thread sealant is needed to form a seal. Ralston Instruments has male BSPP adapters , female BSPP adapters, female BSPP gauge adapters, and female BSPP Quick-disconnect gauge adapters.
The BSPP parallel male has a 30° chamfered seat which seals with a BSPP swivel female on its 30° cone seat.
BSPP Thread Dimensions Calculator was developed to show British Standard Pipe Parallel Thread form where pressure-tight joints are not made on the threads. BSPP Thread Dimensions Calculator shows dimensions, tolerances and designation for fastening pipe threads for thread sizes from 1/16 to 6 according to ISO 228 – 1 standard. The thread form follows the British Standard Whitworth thread.
Both internal and external threads are parallel threads. BSPP threads are not suitable joint where pressure-tightness is made on the thread. If assemblies with such threads must be pressure-tight, this should be made by compressing two tightening surfaces outside the threads, and by applying an appropriate seal.
